We got it!!!
See what we caught this morning when our plane was taking off from Schipol Airport (Amsterdam). We were still flying low and there were some clouds here and there. Suddenly, on a cloud below us, I could see a circular rainbow with the shadow of the plane across it. I was so excited I kept stroking Álvar's arm until he could see it too. Then I started shooting repeatedly in the direction where the extraordinary spectacle had been, but I could no longer see the coloured ring...
There's an article in wikipedia.org about rainbows where this rare phenomenon is described. Circular rainbows, as the article says, can only be seen from an airplane, and often it's just the pilot who can actually see them because he has a wider window ;)
By the way, any expert in the matter reading this? They say "circular rainbows" can be confused with a phenomenon called "glory"... so what is ours?

Gravity
See what we've just found in google video. It may take a couple of minutes to download depending on your brandwidth, but it's worth the time ;)

Going back home after work
Remember that view of Leeds Inner Ring Road we took last October? Here is a series of photos from the same bridge, taken a couple of days ago and made into a video for you ;)

A Cementery
Matze has reminded us of this set of photos that we took a couple of months ago in Leeds.
We actually don't know the name of the church... It's in St. Mark's Road. We've "geotagged" the photos so you can find the exact location using google maps.
Best of luck, Matze! Tell us how your experimental film turns out :)
Everybody else, have a look at this cementery if you have the chance. The place is worth seeing!

"When everybody else has gone to bed"
We don't usually write about the same topic in both blogs at the same time, just because I tend to be irritably perfeccionist when trying to translate a text and it would take me hours to post even the tiniest story. So I won't be translating this time either, though I'll be dealing with the same topic...
I'd love to introduce this fine artist, Stephen Griffin, to all of you :) We found his songs through his comment on one of our photos in flickr (which proves that my messing around with my computer is not always a waste of time).
Have a look at his music site and you'll be delighted to listen to the beautiful songs he plays in his "living room when everybody else has gone to bed". Superb guitar and deeply moving interpretation. I told him his music reminds me of George Harrison's. He says it's a flattering comparison, but I really mean it.
"Will Know" is the first of Griff's songs that I had a chance to listen to, so I thought it would be nice to have it here:

I hope you'll enjoy it!

Hate is all around
I came here to study literature, but that was because I didn't know that I hated it yet. I love reading, but I hate literature. I don't know if that will make any sense to you, but it does to me. And I'm glad I can distinguish between the two now. It's taken me 5 long years of my life (or 23, depending on where you start to count) to realise it, and I guess there's nothing I can do about it now.
So I'll go on hating literature, enjoying linguistics and good books, and taking photographs and messing around with our camera...
